Kerrick James took his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Arizona State University in 1982. He has photographed the lands and cities of the American West, Mexico, and the Pacific Rim for over twenty-five years, with increasing emphasis on Alaska, Hawaii and Baja California. His work has appeared on more than 75 covers and numerous feature stories in travel and inflight magazines like Arizona Highways, National Geographic Adventure, Alaska, America West, Voyageur, Hemispheres, Endless Vacation, Sky, Sunset, USAir, etc...

In addition to providing covers for two books by National Geographic, he has also shot guidebooks to the Southwest, Arizona, New Mexico, Las Vegas, and San Francisco for Compass American Guides. For Insight Guides, he has shot travel guides to Arizona, California and San Francisco. He is a member of ASMP (American Society of Media Professionals) and SATW (Society of American Travel Writers), and lives in Mesa, Arizona with his sons Shane, Royce and Keanu.
