Steven Sackinger (cobalisk) began working as a photo assistant for Paulson Photographic in Phoenix, Arizona. He moved beyond strictly commercial work and began to explore the artistic aspect of photography from an outsider perspective. The fascination with Photoshop as a development tool led to the creation of purely digital pieces which were drawn, painted and processed solely in Photoshop. Eventually the many pieces, none of which were ever used in a commercial application, were coalesced into a manageable collection and cobalisk; the amalgamation of the photographic and artistic hobbies, along with poetry and cooking into a single location was formed.
The genesis of the project grew out of unrelated commercial collaborations with noted web designer Steve London. Born as a pro-bono enterprise where no money was ever made by anyone, the mission of the cobalisk project remains the same, an updateable repository of the artist's creations into a central location: Making it available, navigable and extremely affordable.
